Stakes mares start to foal

As Sheikh Mohammed’s band of Australian broodmares start to foal, there were three notable arrivals at Darley in the last two days

A winner of the G3 Research Stakes at Rosehill, Lonhro mare Trim produced her first foal on August 15, a brown colt by Medaglia d'Oro. Out of the G3-winning Night Shift mare Firm, Trim recorded two Stakes wins during her career and comes from the family of Strategic’s Stakes winner Desuetude.

When you see the quality of the mares Medaglia d’Oro covered in his first book by clicking here, it comes as no surprise to note that his second southern hemisphere book of mares contained just as much quality and substance.

Another Stakes winner to foal on the very same day was the More Than Ready mare Colour. Having produced a colt by Street Cry in her first season at stud the year prior, the G3 winners’ second foal was a bay colt by Champion juvenile producer and G1 winner Exceed And Excel.

A dual Stakes winner from the same family as Colour, Redoute’s Choice mare Come Hither also produced a colt by Street Cry, this time a day earlier than Colour. Having produced a colt by the same sire the year prior, both Come Hither and Colour come from the famed Easy Date family which includes Not A Single Doubt, Snippets, Forensics, Zizou, Quick Score and Rewaaya.

Both set to stand alongside each other during the forthcoming southern hemisphere breeding season at Kelvinside, further information on Street Cry ($110,000 inc. GST) and Medaglia d’Oro ($77,000 inc. GST) can be obtained by clicking here to view Darley’s 2012 online stallion brochure or by clicking here to download Darley’s new App.
