Spicer Thoroughbreds Handicap to Cadillac Mountain

Son of Reset claims Listed race to become 29th Stakes winner for his sire

An impressive last start winner over 2000m at the same course, four-year-old Cadillac Mountain (Reset) stepped up to the 2600m of the Listed Spicer Thoroughbreds Handicap on Sunday December 14 at Werribee and was simply too strong on the line, becoming the 29th Stakes winner for his sire.

Stakes placed as a three-year-old when second in the G2 Alister Clark Stakes, the Stephen Baster-ridden gelding settled in a midfield position and as the leader started to tire before the home bend, the runs came from back in the back with the Peter Moody-trained runner coming down the outside to record victory.

Bred by Contract Racing Pty Ltd, Grandlodge Pty Ltd as well as Mr and Mrs N Psaltis, Cadillac Mountain is out of the G1 performed Dehere mare Picholine, making him a full brother to the G1 Victoria Derby and South Australian Derby winner Rebel Raider, as well as a half-bother to Shamardal’s G3 winner Shamoline Warrior.

Enjoying a stellar few months with his progeny, Reset’s recent Stakes winners include Fawkner who was successful in the G1 Caulfield Stakes, Set Square who claimed her maiden Stakes victory in the G1 VRC Oaks, while the Western Australian raced pair of Disposition and Real Charm have also claim Listed events.

Standing the current season at Darley’s Victorian property Northwood Park at a fee of $16,500 (inc. GST), Reset will be represented by 11 yearlings at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale set to be held in March.
