Sizzling September continues for Exceed And Excel

Vashka lands G2 Shannon Stakes at Rosehill to become his sire's eighth Stakes winner for the month

Exceed And Excel’s sizzling September continued with Vashka becoming his eighth Stakes winner of the month with a brave victory in the G2 Shannon Stakes at Rosehill, September 26.

Forced to work hard early from an awkward draw to get outside the lead, Vashka had a short breather before pouring the pressure on rounding the final bend. The five-year-old kicked clear on straightening before fighting off several challengers over the concluding stages to score a narrow win.

Bred by Darley, Vashka is the seventh foal to race and first Stakes winner out of G2-placed Zabeel mare Zaroyale, as sister to Stakes winner Verb.

Exceed And Excel is Australia’s leading stallion by Stakes winners this season with Vashka joining recent G2 winners Pearls and Kinglike as well as G3 winner Forget as Black type earners for the stallion. All four are new Stakes winners for Exceed And Excel which has seen him jump to 107 career Stakes winners.

Exceed And Excel is standing at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST alongside his G2-winning son Sidestep">Sidestep who stands at a fee of $11,000 inc. GST.
