Sessions looks to have serious future

Lonhro 4yo becomes 40th Stakes winner for his sire

Sessions completed a Group double on the day for Lonhro and also became his sire’s 40th Stakes winner with victory in the G2 Shorts over 1100m at Randwick, September 21.

Following on from Lonhro filly Bounding’s G3 win in New Zealand earlier in the day, Sessions was equally as impressive coming from a midfield position to win The Shorts in a thrilling finish.

A homebred for Darley, Sessions is out of the Stakes winning Canny Lad mare Seances, making him a brother to G2 winner Renaissance. Seances is a half-sister to ill-fated Champion filly Unworldly as well as G2 winner Gordo. Seances has a two-year-old brother to Sessions called An Eternity as well as a yearling filly by Street Cry and she is back in foal to Lonhro.

Lonhro’s success with Canny Lad has been nothing short of amazing. From 22 runners out of Canny Lad mares he has produced 18 winners including six Stakes winners and a further two Stakes-placed horses.

Among Lonhro’s 40 Stakes winners are five G1 winners including Darley stallions Denman and Benfica, Champion two-year-old Pierro, Mental and Beaded.

Lonhro is standing the current season at Kelvinside at a fee of $88,000 inc. GST alongside his G1-winning sons Denman ($27,500 inc. GST) and Benfica ($6,600 inc. GST).
