Second Missile Stakes victory for Rain Affair

Commands gelding Rain Affair dominates his rivals with an easy victory at Randwick

A winner of this race two years back, Commands gelding Rain Affair recorded his sixth career Stakes victory on August 10, scoring a five-and-a-half length demolition of his rivals, winning the G3 Missile Stakes at Royal Randwick over 1200m.

With leaders not having performed too well on the questionable biased track, Rain Affair jumped straight to the lead in his usual racing pattern and the rest was history.

Quickening up at the 600m, jockey Nash Rawiller rode Rain Affair a treat, and when the 200m mark was reached and he was still lengths in front, the G1 performer proceeded to skip “three-four-five lengths in front of the rest of field”.

Bred by Mr DW Storey and Mrs V G Storey Rain Affair is out of the Octagonal mare I Believe, a half-sister to Stakes winner Walk Alone and comes from the family of Stakes winner Deltona (Commands), a winner of the Listed Parramatta Cup.

Ending the 2012/13 racing season in third position on the Australian Sires’ Table behind fellow Darley stallion Exceed And Excel, Commands had one of his best seasons to date, recording 14 individual Stakes winners including G1 winners Commanding Jewel, Epaulette and the NSW Miler of the Year, Appearance.

As the sire of 57 Stakes winners, Commands is standing the current breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 (inc. GST) or you can make a "Bid For Glory" and register to be part of Darley's online auction where a 2013 nomination to Commands is being auctioned.
