Run To The Rose to Exosphere

Second G2 victory for exciting Lonhro colt

Resuming from a break, three-year-old Lonhro colt Exosphere became the second Stakes winner of the day for his sire, producing an exciting turn of foot to claim the G2 Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill.

A four length winner of the G2 Skyline Stakes last time in, the Godolphin colt settled at the tail of the field before jockey Sam Clipperton brought the colt down the outside to record an emphatic length-and-a-quarter victory.

Set to have his next start in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) on September 12, a race won by fellow Lonhro colt Denman, as well as Darley stallions Epaulette and Hallowed Crown, Exosphere’s trainer John O’Shea was full of praise for the colt after his impressive first-up victory.

"Exosphere unleashed a powerful finishing sprint for an emphatic win. He was very relaxed in the run which is important and sprinted well late," stated O'Shea post-race.

Bred in Australia by Darley, Exosphere is the second foal, and first Stakes winner from the Danzero mare Altitude.

The second Stakes winner of the day for Lonhro after the earlier victory of G1 winner Bounding in the G3 Thesharktweet.com.au Stakes at Caulfield, Lonhro is the sire of 53 Stakes winners including G1 winners Pierro, Beaded and Mental.

Lonhro stands at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $88,000 (inc. GST), alongside his G1-winning sons Denman at a fee of $27,500 (inc. GST) and Benfica at $5,500 (inc. GST).
