Miss d'Oro tops them in Power By Far Handicap

Medaglia d'Oro mare wins at Parx

Five-year-old Medaglia d'Oro mare Miss d'Oro had all the power June 26 with a victory as the 3-5 favorite in the Power By Far Handicap at Parx. A five-length winner of the Wonders Delight Stakes as a three-year-old, the mare also finished second in the G2 Distaff Handicap at four.

In the five-furlong turf sprint Miss d'Oro was up in the mix early on, positioned in second on the outside. At the quarter pole the mare took over the lead and kicked on in the stretch to prove worthy of her favoritism.

Miss d'Oro was bred by Chain Bridge Stable and is out of the Saint Ballado mare Princess Legacy, who is a half-sister to Stakes winner Rock.

Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of 11 G1 winners lifetime. Among them are renowned Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra, another G1 Kentucky Oaks winner in Plum Pretty, and turf specialist Marketing Mix. In 2014 he added two to the list after four-year-old Lochte took the G1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap and Coffee Clique became the sire's second G1 Just A Game Stakes winner in June.

Medaglia d'Oro will stand the forthcoming southern hemisphere breeding season for a fee of $55,000 (inc. GST) at Darley Kelvinside.
