Medaglia d'Oro weanling tops sale

$230,000 colt steals the show at Inglis Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale

The demand for the progeny of Medaglia d'Oro continued at the Inglis Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale in Sydney, May 3, with a son of the star stallion topping the inaugural Platinum Session for weanlings, selling for $230,000.

Consigned as lot 110 by Middlebrook Valley Lodge as agent for Twin Creeks Thoroughbreds, the colt was out of unraced Anabaa mare Kiss The Sun and was purchased by American bloodstock agent Roderick Wachman.

The result comes just a month after Medaglia d’Oro averaged $425,000 at the Inglis Easter yearling sale and led all stallions by median ($460,000).

A Sepoy filly out of Stakes-winning Exceed And Excel mare Baby Corn was also well sought after, selling for $190,000. Lot 52 and consigned by Sledmere Stud, the filly was purchased by Louis Mihalkya’s Laurel Oak Bloodstock.

Focus now switches to the mares with three days of selling remaining.
