Isotherm overcomes troubled trip to win G3 Pilgrim Stakes

Talented colt one of 11 Northern Hemisphere winners for mighty Lonhro

Isotherm overcame a troubled trip to just get up in the shadow of the wire to win the G3 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont Park.

The two-year-old son of Lonhro earned his first Graded Stakes victory in the Pilgrim. The talented colt now boasts a record of two wins in three lifetime starts.

Settled in mid-pack early, Isotherm was stuck behind a wall of horses going into the far turn. Swung to the outside at the top of the stretch, the nearly black colt flew down the center of the course to just edge Azar at the wire.

Bred in Kentucky by H. Allen Poindexter, Isotherm was consigned to the 2014 Keeneland September Yearling Sale by Paramount Sales and sold for $120,000 to Rockbridge Bloodstock.

Isotherm is out of Game for More, a stakes-placed daughter of More Than Ready.

Lonhro is the sire of 54 Stakes winners including G1 winners Pierro, Beaded and Mental.

Lonhro stands at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $88,000 (inc. GST), alongside his G1-winning sons Denman at a fee of $27,500 (inc. GST) and Benfica at $5,500 (inc. GST).
