Irish Derby glory for Teofilo

Trading Leather becomes his sire's third G1 winner

Teofilo's high-class three-year-old son Trading Leather became his sire's third top-flight winner when impressively landing the Irish Derby at the Curragh. Held up in midfield off the strong early gallop, he made his move turning into the straight and gamely ran on to record a one-and-three-quarter length triumph. He has now won half of his eight starts including the G3 Autumn Stakes as a juvenile, and earlier in the season he was an excellent third in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.

Bred and trained by Jim Bolger, Trading Leather hails from the family of Hatoof, with his Night Shift dam Night Visit also having a full-brother two-year-old named Wexford Town and a full-sister yearling.

The sire of Dewhurst winner Parish Hall in his first crop, Teofilo now has two G1 winners in his second, with Trading Leather joining the impressive juvenile Loch Garman. In total, Teofilo has 16 Stakes winners and 26 Stakes horses from his first two crops. Teofilo will stand this coming season at $22,000 inc. GST at Kelvinside, NSW.
