Hot streak continues for Medaglia d'Oro

Java's G3 win makes it three Stakes winners over long weekend

Medaglia d'Oro recorded his third Stakes winner in as many days when his three-year-old son Java claimed the G3 Manfred Stakes over 1300m at Sandown, January 26.

Unbeaten in three prior runs this preparation, Java stretched his winning sequence to four, settling outside the leader in the early stages before kicking clear at the 300m mark and going on to post a comfortable victory by over a length. It followed Stakes wins by Lochte and Exodus in America over the weekend.

Bred by Darley, Java is the third Stakes winner out of unraced Fantastic Light mare Dawn Attack who has also produced recent debut G3 winner Antelucan (Domesday) and fellow G3 winner Crucial. Dawn Attack died in the Spring of 2013 with her last foal now a yearling colt by Helmet.

Medaglia d’Oro has made a flying start to 2015, siring six Stakes winners. He has seven yearlings entered for the Melbourne Premier yearling sale in March which can be viewed by clicking here.
