He has the Golden Touch

R Gypsy Gold, by Darley stallion Bernardini, won the Real Prize Stakes over a mile and a sixteenth on Thursday, October 28 at Belmont Park. The winner stalked the leaders in third place and took the lead after entering the stretch to win by a convincing two lengths. The three-year old filly now has three wins from nine starts and was previously third in the G1 Mother Goose Stakes, also at Belmont.
R Gypsy Gold is bred and owned by Mrs. E. P. Robsham and is out of the Listed-placed winning mare Broadway Gold. The dam of the winner is by Seeking the Gold and is a half-sister to the 2011 G1 Florida Derby winner Dialed In. R Gypsy Gold’s third dam is the Champion two-year-old filly Eliza.
The brilliant Bernardini now has another Black-type winner with R Gypsy Gold’s win from his first crop, which includes three G1 winners in A Z Warrior, Biondetti and Stay Thirsty. Also from his first crop are high achievers such as the G2 winners To Honor And Serve and Wilburn. Bernardini is standing the current breeding season at Darley Kelvinside for a fee of $38,500 (inc GST).
