Gold Coast Guineas to Nostradamus

Second G3 victory for son of Medaglia d’Oro

The first Australian Stakes winner for Medaglia d'Oro when successful in the G3 San Domenico in August last year, talented three-year-old Nostradamus travelled to the Gold Coast and recorded his second Stakes win, producing a three-quarter length victory in the G3 Gold Coast Guineas.

Settling off the pace, the Hawkes Racing-trained colt needed a gap as the field charged around the final turn and jockey Hugh Bowman urged his mount through a narrow opening to take the win.

Bred by Almavale Bloodstock, Nostradamus is the fourth foal of G3-winning Lion Hunter mare Leone Chiara, making him a half-brother to the multiple G1 winner and Stakes producing sire Star Witness.

Experiencing a great run at present in Australia through the deeds of the unbeaten G1 Golden Slipper winner Vancouver, the Listed winner Federal as well as achieving recorded prices at the recent Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Medaglia d’Oro is the sire of 69 Stakes winners highlighted by 13 individual G1 winners including Rachel Alexandra, Mshawish, Plum Pretty and Passion For Gold.
