First Australian-bred winner for Poet's Voice

My Country leads from barrier to post for an impressive debut win

Poet’s Voice recorded his first Australian-bred winner with his two-year-old daughter My Country an impressive debut winner at Gosford, December 29.

After jumping smartly, My Country assumed control of the race and never relinquished her advantage, clearing away over the concluding stages to win by over a length.

Bred by the Thomas family, My Country was the most expensive first-crop yearling by Poet’s Voice, selling to Astute Bloodstock for $140,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast. My Country is the third winner out of unplaced Danehill mare Bells Will Ring.

Poet’s Voice has five lots entered for the 2016 Magic Millions Yearling Sale beginning next month including lot 58, a full-sister to My Country and lot 570, a three-quarter brother to star mare Catkins.
