Fioretti rolls in the Roxelana

Bernardini mare gets first stakes win

Bernardini’s five-year-old daughter Fioretti picked up her first career stakes win in the Roxelana Stakes at Churchill Downs on June 20th.

Fioretti was positioned in third along the rail early in the six furlong sprint, before moving to the outside and making a three-wide move around the turn.  She pulled away in the stretch and held off a late charge from Willow Hills to prevail by a length for trainer Anthony Hamilton, Jr., and owners Two Hearts Farm, LLC and Don Janes.

Bred in Kentucky by Jimmy Bell, Fioretti is out of the winning Cherokee Run mare Move Clickly.

Bernardini is the sire of 10 G1 winners, including back-to-back G1 Travers winners Stay Thirsty and Alpha, multiple G1 winner To Honor And Serve, and 2015 G1 winner Dame Dorothy.
