Fawkner returns in dominant fashion

Reset gelding becomes latest Stakes winner for ever consistent sire

Reset gelding Fawkner returned in impressive fashion on September 8, claiming the Listed Sofitel Stakes over 1400m at Flemington.

Becoming the 18th Stakes winner for his sire, Fawkner was far to strong over the last 200m, finishing over the top of the field to win by three lengths, eased down.

Bred by Mr S Bennetts in South Australia, Fawkner is out of the G3-winning, G1 placed Danewin mare Dane Belltar and becomes the second Stakes winner for the mare after her first foal Tanby won the 2011 Bendigo Cup. Having now now won six from twelve starts, Fawkner is regarded as more of a staying type but showed the versatility of the Reset progeny by handling the 1400m with ease.

In becoming the 18th Stakes winner for his sire, Fawkner joins the likes of G1 winners Pinker Pinker and Rebel Raider as well as fellow Stakes winners Cassini, Knight’s Tour, Set For Fame and Avienus.

As one of the leading Stakes-producing Victorian-based stallion, Reset will stand the forthcoming breeding season at Darley’s Northwood Park for $16,500 (inc. GST).
