Fawkner records third G1 victory

Disposition makes it a huge day for Reset with his third Stakes win

Reset’s Caulfield Cup-winning son Fawkner recorded his third career G1 victory with a thrilling first-up win in the G1 Makybe Diva Stakes over 1600m at Flemington, September 12.

Narrowly beaten by Dissident in the same race 12 months prior, Fawkner was positioned beautifully by jockey Damien Oliver throughout the race before pouncing on the lead at the perfect time and holding on for a brave win.

Bred by Steve Bennetts, Fawkner is out of G3-winning Danewin mare Dane Belltar, who is also the dam of multiple G2 winner Tanby. Raced by Lloyd Williams and his family, who also raced Reset, Fawkner will attempt to go one better than his runner-up finish in last year’s Cox Plate later next month.

Fawkner was the second leg of a Stakes double for Reset whose four-year-old son Disposition claimed the Listed The Sofitel over 1400m earlier on the card.

G1-performed as a three-year-old last season, Disposition was having his first start for Lee and Anthony Freedman and recorded a comfortable win also under the guidance of Damien Oliver.

A homebred for Bob Peters, Disposition is the first foal to race from Testa Rossa mare Test Case who foaled a full-brother to Disposition two weeks ago.

Reset is standing at Northwood Park at a fee of $16,500 inc. GST.
