Exosphere All Class in Skyline Stakes

Lonhro colt puts himself into the G1 Golden Slipper picture

An impressive four-and-a-quarter length winner the start prior at Kembla Grange, two-year-old Lonhro colt Exosphere jumped to Stakes level and produced an impressive four length victory in the G2 Skyline Stakes over 1200m at Warwick Farm on February 28.

Settling at the tail of the field, jockey James McDonald pulled the colt to the outside of the field and in a matter of strides the Godolphin colt went from last to first, surging away to become the 50th stakes winner for his sire and elevating himself to the second line of betting for the G1 Golden Slipper behind Exceed And Excel colt Headwater.

Bred by Darley in Australia, Exosphere is the second foal, and first Stakes winner from the Danzero mare Altitude, herself a daughter of the stakes placed Marscay mare Highest. Altitude produced a filly last season by Bernardini.

The third juvenile Stakes winner from his current crop behind Buckinghampshire and Calaverite, Lonhro is also the sire of sire of six individual G1 winners highlighted by Darley stallion Denman, Beaded, Bounding and the G1 Golden Slipper winner Pierro.

Lonhro has a draft of two yearlings set to go under the hammer at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale which commences on March 1 and 13 lots catalogued Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
