Exceed And Excel colt rockets to Golden Slipper favouritism

Exciting Exceed And Excel colt Headwater remained unbeaten and rocketed to the top of Golden Slipper betting with a dominant win in the G2 Silver Slipper Stakes at Rosehill, February 21.

A debut winner at Moonee Valley in December, Headwater was resuming from a short break and after jumping straight to the front gave nothing else a chance, careering away from the opposition in the straight to record an impressive victory.

Bred by Cressfield, Headwater is out of G1 Oakleigh Plate winner River Dove and is a full brother to Stakes-performed filly Fare Well.

Exceed And Excel is the sire of nine G1 winners including 2013 Golden Slipper winner Overreach, four-time G1 winner Guelph and record-breaking Caulfield Guineas winner Helmet. Exceed And Excel has 11 yearlings entered for the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne beginning March 1, while Helmet has 32 first-crop yearlings entered.
