Cross state Stakes double for Reset

Pinker Pinker wins the Schweppervescence Trophy while Warpath takes the Aspiration Quality; New Stakes winner for Shamardal in France

The victory of four-year-old Reset (pictured) mare Warpath gave her dual G1-winning sire Reset his 10th individual Stakes winner.

Recording her seventh win from 12 starts, the last four consecutively, the John O’Shea-trained Warpath created a huge impression after sitting three-wide throughout, but still had the ability to win by more than two lengths in the Listed Aspiration Stakes at Warwick Farm.

Out of the Linamix mare Only Vanda, Warpath was bred by Twin Palms Stud, the very same breeder of her sire Reset.

Earlier in the day at Flemington three-year-old Reset filly Pinker Pinker proved too good for her opposition.

After taking out the G2 Angus Armanasco Stakes over 1400m last start, the Greg Eurell-trained filly stepped up to the mile and the older mares to burst through a gap to record her second successive Stakes victory, taking out the G3 Schweppervescence Trophy by a nose, the gallant victory took her career wins to five from only nine starts.

Bred by Mr W Giovas and Mr C Gordon, Pinker Pinker is out of the winning Success Express mare Miss Marion, a three-quarter sister to the Stakes performer Sipowicz.

The final race on the Flemington card saw four-year-old Reset mare Set For Fame come from last to finish third in the Listed First 4 Jackpot Stakes over 1400m.

Also on Saturday at Saint-Cloud in France, four-year-old Shamardal colt Rostrum took his sires tally to 27 individual Stakes winners when landing the Listed Prix Altipan over a mile.

A lightly raced individual, this was only his fifth career start and he took his tally of victories to three, when scoring by half-a-length over his 11 rivals, ten of whom were already stakes performers in their own right.

Bred by F Bianco, he cost €350,000 as a yearling at Arqana August Sales and is a half-brother to five stakes performers, including the Stakes winner Sarduakar, who was also placed at the highest level in France and the U.S.

Darley stallion Shamardal, has made a tremendous start to his career, siring four G1 winners including the top-class pair Captain Sonador and Faint Perfume.
