Another record price for daughter of Lonhro

True Blonde filly tops National Weanling Sale and becomes the highest-priced weanling filly ever sold in Australia

Champion stallion Lonhro set a record price for a weanling filly sold at public auction in Australia when his stunning daughter out of Stakes-winning Naturalism mare True Blonde sold for $710,000 at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on the Gold Coast, May 26.

Consigned by Segenhoe Stud, the filly was bought by bloodstock agent James Harron who prevailed in a spirited bidding duel with Michael Wallace. The only weanling in Australia to ever sell for more was the $1.15 million Redoute’s Choice colt out of Gypsy Dancer which went under the hammer back in 2007.

A daughter of Easy Date, True Blonde is a half-sister to Champion racehorse and successful sire Snippets. The sale-topping Lonhro filly was her 12th foal and she is already the dam of Stakes-winner Regrowth and the granddam of Golden Slipper winner Forensics.

The sale of the filly continued a great run of auction results for Lonhro, with his $840,000 Midnight Joy filly at this year’s Inglis Easter yearling sale the third highest-priced filly sold at the sale and the highest-priced Lonhro filly ever sold.

The first foals of World Champion Sepoy and triple G1-winner Helmet also went through the ring on the Gold Coast this week and, as expected, demand was high.

David Kobritz’s Musk Creek Farm secured lot 154, a son of Sepoy out of Danehill Dancer mare Leica Lotto from the Newgate Farm draft for $160,000. Lot 219, a Sepoy filly out of Redoute’s Choice’s half-sister Unspoken Choice, was purchased by Arrowfield Stud for $120,000.

A first-crop son of Helmet, Erinvale Thoroughbreds’ colt out of Alborada sold for $100,000 helping his sire to an impressive average of $81,667 over the two-day sale.
