Darley is HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's global breeding operation which currently stands stallions in six countries around the world.
In 2003, Darley purchased Kelvinside Stud from well-known breeder and former jockey Hilton Cope. The property has been developed into a world-class facility with the capacity to stand 18 stallions.
In order to accommodate Darley's ever rapidly growing business, another property was purchased in 2006, this time at Seymour in Victoria. Known as Northwood Park, the farm is a historic horse and cattle property and is able to accommodate a further 12 stallions.
Street Cry, who has become a thrilling source of some of the world's most brilliant and memorable thoroughbreds in recent years including the incomparable Zenyatta and Melbourne Cup winner Shocking, will head the 2010 roster.
New stallion Medaglia d'Oro, whose extraordinary daughter Rachel Alexandra earned Horse of the Year honours in 2009 will stand at Kelvinside, while fellow newcomer Von Costa de Hero, acknowledged by the entire industry for his phenomenal run in the Golden Slipper, win in the Sires' Produce Stakes and placings in the Caulfield and Australian Guineas, will stand at Northwood Park.
Champion third-season sire Lonhro is one of the Australia's most promising young sires, and will be joined in 2010 by his G1-winning son Denman. Another new addition to the roster for 2010 is Time Thief, a $2m son of Redoute's Choice from the family of Centaine. Sensational Australian sprinter Exceed And Excel, the Champion first and second-season sire of his year, is also the sire of G1 Blue Diamond winner Reward For Effort from his second crop. All four stallions will stand this season at Darley's Kelvinside stud at Aberdeen in NSW.
Covering their second southern hemisphere book of mares will be European Champion two-year-old and multiple G1-winning three-year-old New Approach; G1-winning two-year-old and the best three-year-old in the world in 2007, Authorized as well as European Champion juvenile and dual G1 winner Teofilo who retired with his unbeaten record intact; Street Boss, America's multiple record-breaking and multiple G1 winning speed horse by Street Cry; Europe's Champion first-season sire of 2008, Kheleyf.
World Champion three-year-old Bernardini will serve his third Australian book in the upcoming season and will be once again joined by another World Champion in multiple G1-winning sprinter Henny Hughes together with three of America's best three-year-olds in 2007, Street Sense, Any Given Saturday and Hard Spun. Also standing his third season is Shaft, a brilliant juvenile who won the Silver Slipper on his racecourse debut.
Adding to the roster is Shamardal, sire of dual G1-winning filly Faint Perfume; Danehill's impeccably-bred son Gonski, Blue Diamond winner Nadeem and Zabeel's unbeaten dual G1-winning son Reset.
Transferring from Twins Hills to Northwood Park, Domesday's first crop of two-year-olds have hit the track running. Joining the son of Red Ransom at Northwood Park this season will be Strategic.
Commands, the leading sire of winners this season plus sire of G1-winning two-year-old Skilled, together with Canny Lad and Ad Valorem will once again all be based at Kelvinside.
In addition to standing stallions, Darley also manages some of the racing interests of Sheikh Mohammed and various members of the Maktoum family, and has racehorses with various trainers in the UK, Ireland, France, the United States, Australia and Japan. The best of these horses will transfer to Godolphin, to race in the famous blue silks that have been carried to victory in numerous G1 races across the globe.
